  • A mosquito weighs only 2.5 mg.
  • Mosquitoes fly at the speed of 1 to 1.5 mph. While this looks fast in the insect world they are comparatively slower than the others in the insect family.
  • A mosquito beats its wings 300-600 times per second and this causes the buzzing sound we hear.

  • A lot of people think that mosquitoes drink blood. But in fact they are wrong. These pesky creatures drink nectar from flowers. It is the female mosquito which drinks blood because it needs the blood which provides protein for its eggs.
  • The mosquito bite isn’t the cause for the itches on our skin. It is the saliva that causes it.
  • Mosquitoes need water to breed. Any water source like rain water puddles, stagnant water in homes, water left in open tubs, water in the flowerpots are all excellent sources for breeding.
  • The mosquitoes do not have a good vision and can smell exhaled carbon dioxide and body odors of humans from up to 75 feet away and this is what enables it to locate the victims.
  • Mosquitoes do not victimize only humans. Some species specialize in animals. So I guess even animals aren’t   spared.

  • Mosquitoes can live anywhere from 3 days to 5 months. However, even within two weeks, females may lay their eggs 4 or 5 times.
  • These creatures can fly in all directions meaning they can fly backwards, sideways and upside down.
  • About sixty mosquito species help spread diseases than can be very harmful. These diseases include malaria, heartworm, yellow fever, filaria and other diseases. They will bite an infected person and then transmit the disease to a non-infected person.
  • Yellow fever is caused by mosquitoes in jungle areas in parts of Africa and South America.

TAKE TIME

Take time to see the birds soaring
Take time to see the leaves rustling
Take time to hear the waves roaring
Take time to hear the birds chirping
Take time to hear the children laughing
Take time to smell the roses
Take time to dance in the rain
Take time to collect yourself
Take time to laugh in abandon
Take time to talk to your friend
Take time to help someone in need
Take time to reflect on this world
Take time to breathe easy
Take time to stop what you are doing
Take time to look all around you
In today’s busy world
We barely take time for ourselves
It’s no wonder that we are always stressed.

Just God & You !!!!

Dear God

I hope you are listening to me
I am in deep pain
My heart feels ripped apart
My head is heavy
My breath comes in bouts
I no longer have the will to proceed and
I feel I am never going to get up

To which God replied

I am listening to you son
For your pain is my pain
I may not be right there but
I will be your strength
I will be your courage
I will be your patience
So don’t ever lose faith in me
For I haven’t given up on you
So don’t give up on me

EATING THE RIGHT WAY

Eating is an art. We all know how to eat, when to eat and what to eat. It’s such a simple thing like breathing. Yet in fact we all go wrong. We flounder along the way; we gain weight, face issues and lose confidence. Why? All because we fail to eat correctly. These are steps we can follow to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU EAT BUT WHEN YOU EAT:
Prefix a fixed time and to the utmost stick to the timeframe and eat your meals within that range. Having meals at the same time tunes your body clock and helps you keep control of what you are eating.

SIT DOWN AND EAT:
It’s so easy and simple. Why eat in a hurry and when on the move? So take time to sit down and eat .it again helps you realize what you are eating and how much you are eating.

EAT WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS:
This is hard. Believe me it’s the hardest. But this is the main culprit to overeating. When you are reading, watching TV why even talking you are definitely bound to overeat. So try and avoid doing other things while eating.

SET A SMALLER PLATE:
Eat your meals in a smaller plate. It makes the food portion look huge and you can avoid eating more. It’s actually a psychological move.

EAT SLOWLY:
When you eat fast your stomach is unable to signal to your brain that you are feeling satiated and you will end up eating more. So chew your food properly and take time to enjoy your food.

AVOID HEAVY MEALS:
To the best of your ability avoid heavy meals at night.try to eat as early as possible. Digestion slows down and you end up feeling sluggish.

BREAKFAST:
Whatever you do or don’t never ever skip breakfast. It actually harms than helps. Skipping breakfast induces hunger pangs and causes us to overeat.
These are things we all know but tend to overlook. Being healthy should be a priority. We owe it to ourselves and also to the ones who love us.

Mountains are meant to be climbed

Distances are meant to be covered
Records are meant to be broken
Lessons are meant to be learnt

Hello little friend

There are some things I want to tell you
I love coming with you to play
I love being with your friends
I like the way you use me
I am happy whenever you are
I like the way I bring you smiles
But this is something you need to know
You hurt me when you throw me
I also feel very lonely when you leave me on the sofa
I would love to be with my friends
So after your done playing with me
Please put me back in my place with my friends

Your best friend
Bat

Revelation

Well, here I sit down again at my study
to write down a poem about a tragedy.
A tale about a naive girl, who thought she met a partner
when all she met was a boy with a bad temper.

The first two weeks of the relationship was pure bliss.
The girl thought "well this won't be another miss".
But as time passed, as in all cases I tell you,
she came to realise that he is not from the normal menu.

His mask came off little by little
showing off an image that was very brittle.
The poor girl didn't know how to handle this case,
'cause her heart was already in his vase.

But Time, the healer & master of all things
taught her a valuable lesson about human beings.
That you should give priority to people who cares and loves you,
and not give your heart to a stranger who comes from a wrong menu.

Another truth she realized about people,
as time goes by all whites become purple.
That experience has lifted a veil from her eyes,
teaching her that time reveals people and makes you wise....

A TRIBUTE

I lost my friend today
But I lost her while she was still around
Our friendship got lost by distance
For I just lost in touch
While days turned to months
Months turned to years
Now I realize I’ve lost her for good
For no more is she alive
I have just learnt the hard way that
You don’t have to lose someone
To know the value of your dear one
Adore cherish and respect the ones
Who are beside you for you never know?
When they won’t be around you anymore

RAIN

What is rain I asked my mom?
What do you think is rain mom asked me?
I thought and thought and thought some more
But I just didn’t know
I asked my brother who is older to me
He gave me his lofty smile and said
Water changes into water vapor
Water vapor condenses
Clouds become heavy and come down as rain
I haven’t a clue to what he said
I looked out of my window and oh what did I see
I saw the plants and trees dancing
I saw the people hurrying by
I saw the cars step on puddles
I stretched my hands and felt those drops
I glanced up and said
The water from the skies

MY WORLD IS MY MIND

In my mind I can conquer mountains
In my mind I can sail tempestuous seas
In my mind I can run a marathon
In my mind I can roam in the meadows
In my mind I can soar the skies
In my mind I envision the future
In my mind I relive my past
In my mind I can escape
To a world solely belonging to me

In my mind I belong.

Life’s Little Pleasures

The gentle caress of a breeze
The silent waves kissing my feet
The pitter patter of raindrops
The first sight of morning dew
The joyful laughter of children
The aroma of  a fresh baked cake
The happy reunions in an airport
The encouragement from friends
One random act of kindness
Soaking my feet in warm water
Soothing massage to ease all aches
Sloppy kisses from my kids
Curling up with that bestseller
Haunting old shops for their books
A goodnight’s rest after   a job well done
I guess the list is endless……
But these are mine.
